After posting my list of the little things that bring me joy last week, I thought posting a list of the little things that annoy me could be fun too.
- Time changes
- Forgetting the one item I ran to the grocery store for to begin with
- People who wear strong perfume
- Junk mail
- Calls from numbers I don't recognize that don't leave a message
- The smell of burnt microwave popcorn
- Being put on speaker phone
- Having that twitchy eye thing
- People who talk using wireless headphones in public places
- Grumpy cashiers
- People stopping by unannounced
- Drivers who tailgate
- Forgetting my point in the middle of a conversation
- Video calls of any kind
- Looking for my phone while I'm talking on it
- People who stand too close to me in line
- Delivery drivers who put boxes in front of my outward swinging door
- Shopping for clothing
- Passwords that won't work when I enter them exactly as I created them
- When I have to wear a bra
- Forgetting why I walked into a room
- Having a stiff neck
- People who call immediately after I send them a text
- People who talk while chewing
- Paper straws
- People who use talk-to-text who don't check for errors before sending
- Banging my toes on furniture
- When my words come out jumbled
- Having to sneeze, but it gets stuck
- Not noticing a change autocorrect made until after sending a message
- Tags sewn into the neck of clothing
What are some of the little things in life that annoy you?
Most of the things that annoy me are self inflicted things I do or don't do. (or things TheHub does or doesn't do)
ReplyDeleteAfter looking at your list, I will admit I love video calls. Our granddaughter lives across the country and it is how we maintain as close to a physical relationship as we can. Otherwise we would be limited to seeing her just twice a year.
I can certainly see why you would love video calls with family who is far away. I'm spoiled having all my children and grandkids living close by, so my video calls are usually annoying things.
DeleteAlso, video calls have the same feel of public speaking for me and that's something I REALLY can't stand!
DeleteGood list! Time change is seriously annoying. I've also been a victim of auto correct a few too many times.
ReplyDeleteTime change is the worst! The autocorrect thing happens to me all the time. It would be fine if it corrected something I wrote incorrectly, but it just changes random words to something totally different - so annoying!
DeleteGreat list! The people who wear too much perfume would be on my list too. 😂
ReplyDeleteRight?! It makes me start coughing violently. I guess I have a sensitivity to it on top of just disliking heavy scents.
DeleteFantastic list, Martha! The time change has to be my #1 pet peeve. I don't like video calls in general unless it's FaceTime with family. That's such a great invention, especially when we live away from each other. Oh, yes, and the heavy perfume? Yuck! Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteFacetime with family is a different story, especially if they live far away and you don't get to see them often. I hope you are doing ok. I was surprised to see you here today. Did you have the eye surgery done yesterday or was that postponed?
DeleteI had it done, Martha, and I'm seeing better than ever. Praise God!
DeleteI'm so happy to hear that. I had assumed you probably wouldn't be able to be on screens for a least a few days. I'm so glad all is well. Hugs!
DeleteYour list is great. I will add...
ReplyDeleteTeams' meetings
Corporations
Negative people
Broken promises
Have a great day. It's a true cold, dreary Fall Day here.
Sorry to hear your weather isn't so great today, Lori I agree with the things you mentioned although most of those would be higher on my list than little annoyances. They would have to go on the things that really piss me off list instead!
DeleteThis list is genius!!!! I 100% agree with them all!!!!!
ReplyDeleteForgetting to finish the sentence before pressing send :) Not noticing a change autocorrect made until after sending a message especially when it changes its total meaning!
DeleteForgetting to finish the sentence before pressing send - Lol!! And that's what I meant about autocorrect. I'd be fine with it changing a mistake, but no, it just changes what I meant to say into something that doesn't even make sense!
DeleteWhat a great list. I agree with and can relate to a large portion of it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda! :)
DeleteTime change YES. What geologic era are we in that we still do this? It's so insane.
ReplyDeleteI would add:
Loud car dealer commercials
Apostrophes used for plurals
Cell phone usage while shopping
99% of packaging
Prescription drug ads on TV
I'm so happy to see you here Nance! I sure hope you are feeling better. I've been worried about you. I completely agree with all of your additions to the list.
DeleteI can relate to most of these! I don't mind most tags in clothes or people dropping by, as long as they don't do it too frequently. :)
ReplyDeleteHow do the tags not drive you insane?! They are so itchy and irritating to me. I generally just don't answer the door if people show up unannounced. It just annoys me. If I'm at home, I don't want to be bothered unless we have something preplanned. I guess I'm getting old and crotchety, lol.
DeleteOh yes, Otto is a pain in the a**. I was the grumpy cashier. It was an annoying job.
ReplyDeleteI've worked as a cashier before, too, definitely not my favorite job. But I was never grouchy with the customers.
DeleteI feel the same about many on your list.
ReplyDeleteThat's why we get along. :)
DeleteMartha, it's so funny because a lot of what you listed are MINE as well..
ReplyDelete-People stopping by unannounced
-Grumpy cashiers
-Forgetting why I walked into a room
-Passwords that won't work when I enter them exactly as I created them
In addition...
-People who walk so slow that if they walked any slower, they would STALL. And I'm referring to people 40 years younger than me, who move like sloths.
-I don't like being hot. Therefore, SUMMER annoys me to no end.
Fun post, my friend! Wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving Day! X
You are so funny, Ron. Now I can add people who DRIVE so slow that if they drove any slower, they would stall. It's so common here in Florida. I call them rolling roadblocks! Thank you for popping in for a visit. It's always great to chat with you a bit. Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving, too, my friend.
DeleteI agree with all of these except I don't mind wearing a bra. It's just never bothered me. I have two friends who will call after I text. A lot of times, I just don't answer! LOL! I had a college roommate who ate popcorn cooked on the stove every night, and every night she burned it! It drove the rest of us nuts!
ReplyDeleteWow, Bijoux, you are one of the first women I've ever heard say they don't mind wearing a bra. I can't stand the things! It's kind of hard to just not answer when they know we are sitting right there with our phone in our hand, lol, but I suppose that is an option. The burnt popcorn smell is awful!
DeleteMost of those fit the bill for annoying! Time change, yuck and yuck. Gray days that have no reason and no rain.
ReplyDeleteI'm not fond of those gray days for no reason either, but I wouldn't mind if they happened here in the summer. it would help keep things cooler. Of course it never does happen when we want or need it to.
DeleteThose things all annoy me too!
ReplyDeleteShould we do a list of things that really piss us off? You would be such a fun person to do that with! :)
DeleteGreat list! People who are late to everything. People who commit to something and then back out. Women who are all matchy matchy:)
ReplyDeleteGood ones Connie. :)
DeleteThat was a fun list and you sure nailed my top 4!
ReplyDeleteAnd you aren't even going to tell me which one's they are?!
DeleteGood list why not -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteYou know me, I think this kind of stuff is fun!
DeleteI enjoyed reading your list. I'm not easily annoyed, but, I do get annoyed with the one neighbor who holds really loud parties, in the garden, with live band and amplifiers, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. fairly regularly. My whole house vibrates to the sound of their base. Yes, we have a noise ordinance and yes, other neighbors have called the police, but, the parties continue.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bless. I have a neighbor like that too and it's right next door. Thankfully his big parties are limited to a couple a year and he usually shuts them down by midnight. It would drive me crazy if it was a regular thing or went on that late into the morning hours!
DeleteWell, most of those hit my nerves too! I get annoyed at my next door neighbor smoking weed in his backyard. Totally legal, but I can't enjoy my own yard when he's smoking.
ReplyDeleteUnderstandable, that stuff smells like skunks these days, lol!
DeleteI am right with you on the overly perfumed people/products. Gag me. Also people talking on wireless headphone or phones in public places even. What on earth? Another thing that drives me nuts is when someone gets in his/her car and sits there while I'm waiting for a parking spot. I think people probably check their email or something. Wait till you get home.
ReplyDeleteIt's bad enough when people just loudly have conversations on their phones in public, but at least you can see they are on the phone, The ones with wireless headphones always appear to just be wandering around loudly talking to themselves - and then there are all the innocent victims nearby who answer them assuming they are the ones being spoken to, lol! Don't even get me started on the people who sit in their cars for an hour after getting in - so annoying!
DeleteTurn off autocorrect! I always do.
ReplyDeleteIt is an unfortunate truth the job of the small toe is to locate furniture, especially in the dark.
That really does seem to be the job of the little toe, lol! I probably should just turn off autocorrect. At least then my mistakes will be my own.
DeleteHere here to all of them - Love Ruby Ros
ReplyDeleteIn that case we can be friends ;)
DeleteGreat list! I can relate to many of your bullet points.
ReplyDeleteWhen someone doesn't leave a message, I usually assume its spam and block the number.
I hate tailgating drivers, and drivers that don't stop at stop signs. (As a runner, I've too many close calls.)
I always feel the need to try to figure out who it is even though I know it's probably spam, especially if it's a local number. I guess having children and grandchildren is the cause of that. It's always in the back of my mind that there is a small chance that it could be an emergency call of some sort. Please be careful out there when you're running, San, and if you have any parks are trails where you can run without vehicles, all the better!
DeleteLots in this list made me shake my head in agreement. Especially wearing a bra
ReplyDeleteThat's definitely a big one on my list, lol!
DeleteI used to not like being on speaker during a call, but I've come to learn that some people with hearing problems hear the phone much better that way, so I try not to be annoyed now.
ReplyDeleteI suppose in that case I wouldn't mind too much, but I think most people use it to continue to do other things while they talk, and then there's noise interference or they move too far from the phone and then I can't hear them - or they use it because there's more than one person on their end. It's hard to hold a conversation with more than one person at a time over the phone!
DeleteThat is a good list :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thanks Jan. :)
DeleteThat's a great list and most all of those things annoy me as well. Except speaker phone because as my hearing deteriorates I depend on that so I can hear!!! So I totally understand when others put me on it.
ReplyDeleteA few others have mentioned the same thing and that's totally understandable. In my case it's usually people who put me on speaker while they do other things which makes hard for me to hear them - just the opposite!
DeleteOhhh, I have one. Sneezing right after I apply eyelash makeup.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a good one!
