Good evening, friends. I bet you didn't expect to hear from me again so soon. I'm sticking with my old school Monday Daybook for now. I think it's something I can keep up with even during busy times - fingers crossed anyway.
Outside my window... It was a hot, sunny day. It's almost sunset as I'm writing, and it's still 81 degrees out there. So much for that nice little cold front that came through on Thanksgiving. Such is life in Florida.
The weekend... I wasn't feeling very well and was just completely exhausted the entire weekend. There were plans to get together with my family, but I just wasn't up to doing anything. My kids still got together and took the little ones downtown to watch the Christmas parade on Saturday evening, so it all worked out ok.
This morning... I was still dragging, but finally got myself up and moving. I had some calls to make, made my to-do list for the week, figured out a plan for meals, and then went to do my grocery shopping.
I am wearing... I'm back in comfy clothes now - Jammie pants and an oversized t-shirt, another one compliments of my son. Today, it's an old Nintendo t-shirt featuring all the original characters.
I am listening to... Silence at the moment.
I am thinking... About starting a new blog - a private one. There are so many pros and cons to consider. The only real solution for doing and sharing everything I want to would be having two blogs, one public and one private, but when I think about that, I have to ask myself if I've lost my ever-loving mind!
I am feeling... Sick and tired of being sick and tired. I don't know if I picked up something from the girls last week or if it's just one of my health issues kicking my butt, but I'm still feeling so lousy today.
I am reading... Blogs, as usual. Unfortunately, I'm currently not able to see well enough to read books. I have cataracts and need surgery, but I have been putting it off. I've tried audiobooks, but I somehow forget to pay attention when I'm listening instead of reading. Does anyone else have that problem?
I am cooking... I'm making egg roll in a bowl with ramen noodles for this evening, and there will be plenty of leftovers for the next day or two. I'm planning to make some breaded Italian chicken cutlets, macaroni and cheese, and roasted broccoli on Wednesday. That way, I'll have a good lunch ready for the girls on Thursday - just heat and eat. I have everything I need to make Chana Masala late in the week if I'm not still working on leftovers.
I am watching... I've been watching movies on Tubi lately. Check it out if you aren't already familiar with it - it's a free app. Here are a few that I thought were pretty good - Grandma, Fireflies in the Garden, Welcome to the Rileys, and I'm in the middle of A Good Person, which seems good so far. All have great casts.
I am going... Nowhere other than out for a nice long blog jog this evening.
This week... Other than a doctor's appointment tomorrow, I'll be checking things off my to-do list, and then of course, I'll have the girls all day Thursday. I try not to plan anything on Fridays or over the weekends if I don't have to. There's always a lot of cleaning to be done after a day with the girls, and besides that, I'm always worn out for days afterwards.
That's all for me for today, and possibly the week - we'll see. Now I'm off to see what you've been up to. Enjoy the evening! :)
I'm sorry you aren't feeling good. Hope your energy is back soon.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Tubi - will have to look for it!
Thanks, Mari, I sure hope so, too. Definitely check out Tubi, it's really good!
DeleteI hope you start feeling better.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary.
DeleteI'm sorry to read you are not feeling too good.
ReplyDeletePerhaps try and rest for a few days if you can...but hope you feel better soon.
All the best Jan
Thanks, Jan. I'm resting as much as I can.
DeleteA lot of bloggers have been mentioning feeling tired. It must be going around. It could be the approaching winter, too. Take care. It's okay to rest. You'll have energy another time.
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely the time of year for those colds, flus, and viruses. I'm just doing the bare minimum for now.
DeleteMe too, I hope you are feeling better super soon. Hey, I watch lots of movies on Tubi!
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to fill me in when you come across good ones!
DeleteI like reading e-books because I can easily increase the font size. I tried audio books, but they just put me right to sleep. Guess they remind me too much of bedtime stories when I was small!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I used Kindle Unlimited for quite a while. I guess I need to resubscribe, I miss reading and prefer that over TV.
DeleteI am tired most all the time, but then I have RA so there is that. I like to read real books:) Hope you feel better and more energenic soon!
ReplyDeleteI have RA too, Connie, but I feel much more tired than usual lately.
DeleteI’m sorry you’ve not been feeling well, but hope you get to feeling better soon. Your meals sound delicious! I’ve watched free shows on Tubi too, I love that it’s free.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Belinda. I love Tubi too. I find lots of good things to watch there, and we can't beat free! :)
DeleteWhat a lovely read but I am so sorry you are feeling under the weather. I haven't picked up a book for a while and need to get stuck in again. My last eye appointment the doctor said it looked as though I had the start of a cataract but wasn't far enough along to need surgery. I don't notice anything. I know four people who have had them done and they all said they were amazed at how easy and fast it was, and how glad they as a couple of them had been putting it off. Feel better soon and thank you so much for the welcome back on my blog. It's great to be visiting again.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Denise. I'm so glad we've reconnected! I hope you enjoyed your blog break. I also know people who have had the surgery, but I just feel like this place I went to is surgery happy. I want to get a second opinion before I do anything.
DeleteI think you are very wise Martha. I think knee surgery is in my future, but want to wait. The surgical doctor told me I might have to have it done eventually, he didn't seem to be in a hurry for me to get it. Time will tell I guess.
DeleteWe definitely don't want to rush into anything surgical until it's a necessity!
Deletethat should have read "...and how good it was to have clear eyesight again..." I need to read through my comments before hitting that publish button :(
ReplyDeleteNo problem, I got the drift. :)
DeleteI lived in Savannah for several years & always hoped for rain on Christmas so it wouldn’t be hot & sunny. 😉 Thank you for kind comments on Cecilia’s blog. Feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, and thank you for stopping by! :)
DeleteI am so sorry 😞 to hear 😢 that you aren't feeling very well. I have cataracts as well and in fact, I have an appointment tomorrow with my ophthalmologist for him to look at the progress and decide if and when I require laser surgery.
ReplyDeleteI will keep you in my prayers 🙏 ❤️
Sending you warm hugs 🫂 🤗 and much love.
Aww, thanks, Linda, you are so sweet. I hope all goes well at your appointment!
DeleteFeel better soon and get that cataract surgery done. -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteWe'll see Christine, lol!
DeleteOh, I wish we had your FL weather up here in Central MA. It's dark o'clock and the temperature is a balmy 27 oF. Tomorrow we're supposed to get some snow. Depending on which weather dudes and dudettes you listen to, totals range from a coating to several feet. That range will cover them. I hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteUgh, stay warm up there!
DeleteGet some rest before your grandbabies get there! I had cataract surgery a few years ago. I guess it went well. I didn't understand, and of course it's obvious, that the lens were corrective. So, I am sorry I had it done. I wore glasses to drive. Now I don't, but need them to read texts, price tags, small print on packages, books... I have cheap readers in every room and my purse. I think the problem now is just plain older eyes, my doctor says I see 20/20, but it sure doesn't seem like it! I had no complaints before, I think they suggested it because insurance paid.
ReplyDeleteThat's the kind of stuff I worry about, Lisa; that's why I've been putting it off. I feel like the place I went is surgery happy, too. I'm definitely at least going to get a second opinion before I do anything.
DeleteFeeling under the weather is such a bummer, Martha, and I hope you can rally soon! I just had a "clean-up" on my left eye that had cataract surgery in 2018 as I had lots of scarring. I'm seeing so much better now and able to read like I once did. If you're not seeing well, I strongly recommend that you get that surgery done. You will NOT regret it! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Martha. I'll make a decision after getting a second opinion.
DeleteIt's not easy to keep up with everything when you aren't feeling so well. I pray you get better soon. I had cataract surgery, one went terribly and then I got a good doctor and he fixed that eye and the other was easy peasy. Make sure you get a great surgeon if you do it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mimi. That's one of the reasons I've been putting it off. I can't say I'm thrilled with my eye doctor to begin with. I'm thinking a second opinion is in order.
DeleteI'm so sorry that you're feeling lousy. There's a lot of crud going around. I've thought about doing a more private blog but know that I would want to share (over-share) with too many friends for it to be truly private. I'm fairly open on my blog anyway. Cataract surgery was a game changer for me; suddenly I could see clearly and drive at night. I had one done about 14 years ago and the other eye some years later. It's such a routine procedure these days. I have the same problem with audio books; I stop listening (I'm distractable) and then lose the thread of the story.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'm still thinking about it - both the cataract surgery and the private blog. I feel completely comfortable sharing with all my blog friends, but who knows who else is lurking out there. There was a day back in August when I wasn't blogging at all. The post, where I came here to tell everyone what happened to my husband, suddenly got over 439,000 views in one day. I always get hundreds of views on every post, but only 25- 30 comments. It just kind of creeps me out when I think about it.
DeleteSorry to hear that you have been under the weather, Martha, but you still managed to keep you busy. About the audio books...same here. That's why I prefer using my Kindle. Hope you are feeling better soon and enjoy nice warm weather in Florida. Here is cold, grey, windy and wet...just depressing...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Angie. I have no choice as far as getting things done goes; I'm the only one here to do it. I definitely need to go back to my Kindle reader, too. Stay warm and dry!
DeleteI hope you feel better soon. I'm sure it's easy to pick things up from small children. I'm not around any but I suppose even being out and about could pass things to catch. Blogging has helped me be less insular if that's the right word. Even if private, cit might still be a good outlet for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sam. The girls are in preschool a couple of days a week now. They pick up all kinds of stuff - and then share it with me. They keep me sick constantly. I sometimes think of blogging as therapy. At least that's how it feels for me. I think I would be more comfortable sharing my thoughts and feelings in a private space. Plus, I could share photos of my grandkids, which I can't do now.
DeleteHope you feel better soon! I love that you still got things done with grocery shopping and meal planning. Your egg roll in a bowl sounds delicious, and having a private blog sounds like a great idea. Wishing you a calm, healthy week!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, and thanks for stopping by! :)
DeleteCertainly hope you get to feeling better soon. Sometimes I know that feeling that you're just dragging along and I don't even have grandchildren to keep me occupied. I have cataracts they're not ready to be removed yet, but when that time comes I will have it done. I have heard from many that it is a miracle in itself. Maybe you can talk yourself into it and go back to being able to read books. I do that so much that I can't stand the thought of not being able to hold a book in my hand.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lynn. I guess our age probably plays a part in that dragging along sometimes. I will be getting a second opinion on the cataracts and then make a decision. The hardest part is needing someone to drive me. I hate to ask my kids to take off work, and the eye surgery center won't allow you to go with an Uber. You would think they would offer some kind of transportation, considering.
DeleteI am so happy to see a post from you so soon. I hope you're feeling better soon Martha. It's no fun not feeling well and having no energy. TBG had cataract surgery two years ago and it went really well, and he can see so much better now. I don't care for audio books for the same reason. I still prefer good old-fashioned books. Your meals all sound really good. Have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lori! I am feeling a little better today, just in time for the girls to come over and wear me out again, lol. I'm going to get a second opinion before having the surgery. The hardest part all the way around is needing someone to drive me to all of the appointments. I hate to ask my kids because they need their sick time for when their children are home sick. I like regular old books best, too, but I'm going to have to go back to a Kindle reader if I don't get my eyes taken care of soon. I prefer reading to TV any day, it's driving me crazy not being able to read! I hope you have a great week too! :)
DeleteMaybe the doctor will have some insights or suggestions on your feeling lousy. You are still getting a lot done even though you aren't feeling well.
ReplyDeleteI had an appointment today - no insights, she just blames everything on me watching my grandkids, and getting old. I'm not thrilled with my primary doc!
DeleteI'm sorry you have not been feeling well. This is a tough time of the year to be down, as it's always so busy. We had a ton of snow last night and I'm stressed about getting up and down our steep driveway to take Middle Child to work. The library system actually closed this morning, but is opening back up at 1 pm, which is when she's schedule to work (darn!) Hey! We are having egg roll in a bowl later this week, too. I can't listen to audio books for the same reason as you. Oddly, I CAN listen to podcasts. It makes no sense.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bijoux. I hope all went well with the drive today. I would be terrified driving in that kind of weather! Funny you should mention that about the podcasts, I can listen to them without a problem too, lol. Stay warm up there and be careful driving!

ReplyDeleteThis time of year all kinds of germs are hanging around. Take care and rest as much as you can. Please get your cataracts taken care of. Medicare pays for it 100% I had mine done a few years ago and see so much better now.
Thanks, Ma - if this is Ma, I think it is, lol. It gets bad here as far as the germ season goes because all the snowbirds come down for the winter and bring along all the germs from where they live. We become a cesspool of germs! I'm not on Medicare yet. That's one of several reasons I may wait it out a bit because I'm close. They want $5,000 to do corrective lenses that my current vision insurance won't cover.
DeleteHave a great week. You’ll be busy by the sound of it.
ReplyDeleteI am always exhausted after the kids have stayed over!
Thanks, Marie. They can definitely wear us out!
DeleteMaybe you should be checked for walking pneumonia...like me! I was so exhausted after Thanksgiving here at our house, and I was sick all weekend, and finally decided to see the doctor yesterday and he confirmed that the deep painful cough I was having was indeed pneumonia. So now I am on antibiotics and steroids, etc. and still feeling a bit rough, but hopefully this will soon pass. Sometimes we just need to REST!!!!! I pray you will feel better soon and be able to enjoy the girls while they are there. Your food items all sound so good. makes me wish I had more energy for cooking, but we are just making do with what we have...nothing fancy. Please take care and get some rest. Your body is telling you to do that!
ReplyDeleteI was hospitalized last year with walking pneumonia. I don't feel that kind of sick this time around. I sure hope you are feeling better soon! I'm getting as much rest as I can before I have the girls again this week - and then they will just wear me out all over again, lol!
DeleteI suppose so. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon and seek medical attention if you don't. Winter is so much a time of sickness. About private blogs, I had one for several years. I abandoned it. It was just too much blogging daily on the public blog and occasionally on the other one.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alana. I had a doctor's appointment today, but it was useless. My primary care doc pretty much just blames everything on getting older. I'm still thinking about the private blog, but I'm pretty sure if I tried to do two, I would give up one of them in the end. I don't even know if I'll have time for one once my next two grandbabies arrive - I'll be watching them too!
DeleteI am going to have to check out Tubi for myself. I do hope you feel better very soon. I ended up with an aching back again today due to the temperature swings, and the fact I was bending and lifting while shopping.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I saw that Jackie, I was just over at your place. I hope you feel better soon, too. Definitely check out Tubi, I love it! :)
Deletehope you feel more like yourself!! the older I get the more upset I get when I don't feel like myself.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen. I know exactly what you mean!
DeleteInteresting Mini just suggested that I put my blog on private. I don't think I will, but it's a thought. I hope you perk up soon. Your meal prep sounds delish.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ernie. I am finally feeling a bit better. Just keep in mind, if you ever do decide to set your blog to private, anyone who is following you anonymously or otherwise will still have access. If I ever go private, I would start a new blog where I know for sure who is seeing what I post there.
DeleteThat's what I like about Wordless Wednesdays, similar to what you're saying about the Monday Daybook postings. I like that bit of it.
ReplyDeleteWow, wow, warm there. Another snow day here though not cold as I'd like to make frozen bubbles outside. Maybe tomorrow? Today, it's bread baking and more chalk painting.
Why do you feel you can't publish everything you want to share on this blog? Sorry to read that you're feeling sick. Hope you can get your eyes done soon.
Wishing you a wonderful time with the girls. I also like having no plans on some days. It's quite nice to have zero plan days! Cheers, Ivy.
Oh, I hope you'll post photos of your frozen bubbles, your fresh-baked bread, and your chalk painting! It's mostly just personal photos I'd like to share, my grandbabies, of course, since they are a huge part of my world. Their parents don't share on any public social media, so I can't either. Thanks for all your catch-up comments! I hope you have some zero-plan days soon. :)
DeleteI respect that point of view from you and the parents.
DeleteYesterday was Sunday and I stayed in my jammies all ding dong day. Today, Monday, I have a pile of laundry started, bread soon and whatever other trouble I can enjoy getting into.
Thinking I wanna make a pink photography board.
Have a groovy rest of your week!
Thanks so much, Ivy. I'm excited about a pink photography board, and I hope you have a great week too! :)

DeleteOh Martha very good to see your name pop up. I'm sorry you are feeling poorly.
ReplyDeleteSeveral of my neighbors have young grandchildren, whom we call petri dishes. Even though she was a Kindergarten teacher and caught all little germs when she taught, she is catching them again
Hugs cecilia
Hi Celia! Thanks for popping back over to visit. I didn't know if you would even remember me. Yes, the little ones are petri dishes, lol. I guess we lose any antibodies we build up to such things. I remember going years without getting sick, but it's been constant since the little ones started preschool!
DeleteYou commented on my blog post but I do not have your email. If you could send it to me that would be great. dpucci9972@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteHi Debby, I don't check my blog email, but thanks for popping over. :)
DeleteMartha, I am thinking of you. Please take care of yourself and make You a priority, whatever shape that may take. If that means finding a new doctor who is a better listener and cares about You, then do it. Be your own advocate.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nance. I'm sure trying my best to take care of myself. Getting a new primary doc has proven to be harder than it sounds. At least all my specialists are wonderful. I'm thinking of you every day. Big hugs!
DeleteHi Martha, thanks for visiting my blog. I need cataract surgery too. It seems there is always one thing or another that seems to creep up. I had basal cell cancer removed in September. Now I found a spot under my eye. The primary is referring me to Ophthalmology to check it out. I don't even want to think about it until after Christmas. Anyways, I will keep you in prayer and hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Susan. It's good to reconnect with you. There really is always something, and that just keeps getting worse with age. I hope all will check out ok with the spot under your eye. Thanks so much for popping over to visit.
DeleteI hope you feel better, soon. It might be time to introduce your granddaughters to quiet play at Grandma's so you don't get so tired.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bless. The girls definitely don't understand quiet play yet - it's climbing, jumping, and running full speed ahead all day. Of course, Gamma is completely worn out again today.
DeleteIt's been a few days since you posted so I hope by now you're feeling much better. It's hard when there's things that must get done and you don't have the energy.
ReplyDeleteI can't concentrate on audio books either. I seem to have to actually see the pages.
Thanks, GM. I was feeling a bit better, but I had the girls all day yesterday, so I'm worn out again, lol! I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't concentrate on audiobooks.
DeleteI hope you are feeling good, it's stinks when you don't. I just started listening to audio books and I really enjoy them. Have a good week and thanks for the visit.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you again, Bill. Thanks for stopping by :)
DeleteI hope you are feeling better by now. Not having energy is the worst!!
ReplyDeleteYes, two blogs would do me in. Why not just have one that is private? I mean, if you want to share things without anyone else knowing.... just a thought. Of course, you'd need to invite me because, you know, I'm fun and all....
Have a great day. XOXO
I'm still giving it some thought, Suz. I like having it public for things like NaBloPoMo and the April A-Z challenge. I also play along on some of the blog hops now and then, but a private blog would be really nice. Of course, if I ever do start a private one, you will definitely get an invite! :)
DeleteYAY!! SO glad you're planning on sticking with blogging! I've really missed you :) Sure hope you're just a bit tired from the girls and NOT a health issue kicking up. I tried the public vs. private blogging for awhile and eventually just decided to choose my words carefully and stick with public. It was too much work to do both. Hope the girls didn't wear you out too much today! Thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tamy. I'm definitely planning to stick around, but I won't be posting often like I did during NaBloPoMo. I think feeling so worn out all the time is a combination of the long days with the girls and my health. I have so many health issues now. I'm still thinking about the public vs private blog. It's not so much what I say, but also the photos I'd like to share - and it just kind of creeps me out when I really think about not knowing who is actually reading, lol.
DeleteHope you are feeling fully recovered. I like Tubi, but get tired of the commercials. But hey, it's free, so I put up with them.
ReplyDeleteWe definitely can't complain when it's free, right?! Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend! :)
DeleteI also can't listen to audio books. My mind wanders too much! I'll have to check Tubi out.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely check it out, Jeanette. Many of the movies are older, but there are some really good ones. :)
Delete
