Are you familiar with the 2011 animated film Rango starring Johnny Depp?
I was not familiar with it, but it came up on my app screen while I was looking for a movie to put on for my girls last week. Luna, the three year old, spotted it and asked to watch it. I started the movie and pretty quickly realized it was not a movie for kids, but not before Luna yelled out "Hey Gamma, he looks like you!"
It had to be one of the funniest things I've ever heard. I am getting older and have been self-conscious about my looks as I'm aging, but Rango? Really?!
I assure you, I do not look like Rango. My eyes aren't popping out of my head, I have lips and all, and I'm certainly not too skinny or green. I have no idea what she saw that made her think I looked like him, but it sure made me never want to be seen out in public ever again!
You just scrolled back up to take a closer look at him, didn't you?

This is so funny! I've never heard of this movie, but I definitely know the feeling of fielding comments about appearances from kids.
ReplyDeleteThey sure are something! I've seen lots of they same type of thing on social media so I don't feel so bad. I'll catch up with you over the weekend :)
DeleteKids come up with some of the craziest things.
ReplyDeleteThey sure do, but I'd still really like to know what made her think that!
DeleteI'm not familiar with the movie, but what the heck?? LOL, I've seen kids say things like that to their parents on TikTok, so it's not you, it's THEM! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI've seen a lot of those reels too, so honestly I don't feel too bad about it. It still cracks me up every time I see the photo though.
DeleteKids:) Haven't seen the movie.
ReplyDeleteIt's just too much!
DeleteKids say the darndest things!
ReplyDeleteThat they do!
DeleteHa! Maybe the clothing? Maybe you hold her hugging like that? I've not seen the movie.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea, but I showed her the photo today and asked her if it looked like me and she laughed, said no, and called me a silly Gamma. That makes me feel a little better, lol.
DeleteI didn't think it was that bad for kids, but it's been ages since I saw it.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember if it was language or what, but didn't seem appropriate for toddlers, a little older would probably be fine.
DeleteDo you have a flowered shirt or dress like Rango is wearing?
ReplyDeleteNo, unfortunately, lol!
DeleteAs the late Art Linkletter quipped, "Kids say the darndest things!" And they do! Hoping I'll get to see all three grand girls over Christmas break. Blessings, Martha!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope you are able to see them over the holidays too. It has to be hard not living close by.
DeleteThat's too funny. Haven't seen or heard of the movie.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it?!
DeleteWell I have heard of Johnny Depp but I'd not heard of the film Rango.
ReplyDelete... but sometimes you just never know what kids will say!
Happy midweek wishes.
All the best Jan
They definitely come up with some funny stuff!
DeleteLeave it to the little ones! Lol.
ReplyDeleteThey are too much!
DeleteI've heard of it but never seen it. Kids can be so funny!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you blogging again.
Thanks Mari and thank you for coming over to say hello. It's great to be back! :)
DeleteI think further questioning of Lena is warranted! Clearly she has a creative mind!
ReplyDeleteI asked her today and she had changed her mind *insert eyeroll here*
DeleteThis is a hoot. "I have lips and all." Kids say the darndest things. Once in an elevator in the library an elderly woman asked Mini what her name was. Then Mini asked what her name was (Mini's IRL name rhymed with this woman's name, guessing you can figure that out). "My name's Dolly." Mini was quick to correct her that Dolly was NOT a name. (It's a toy she liked to play with, obvi). Bah ha ha. I was like, OOPS.
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny! I guess I can feel lucky that at least Luna didn't tell me I look like Rango in front of other people, lol
Deletethat's so funny! Of course, I don't know what you look like, so I can't tell why she said that, but I have a feeling it was her over active imagination at work! As Art Linkletter used to say, "Kids say the darndest things". LOL.
ReplyDeleteWell Pam you know no matter what I look like I definitely don't look like that!!
DeleteI never heard of that movie either but kids do say the darnest things!
ReplyDeleteThey sure do!
DeleteNever heard of it, and no matter what you look like, you do not look like that!
ReplyDeleteNo, I most definitely do not, lol!
DeleteHA HA - Kids say the darnedest things. At least she made you laugh!
ReplyDeleteKind of more like laugh and cry, lol!
DeleteYou just never know what the littles are going to say next. I enjoyed those days, they grow up to fast. Lots of laughs!
ReplyDeleteThat's for sure! I remember some good ones when my kids were little too, but they weren't directed at me at least, lol.
DeleteI didn't realize this was coming out as anaomous, but so you know, It is me, ma.
ReplyDeleteGlad you caught that Ma. I wonder why it's making you anonymous - hmmm.
DeleteKids say the funniest things!! I've not seen the movie.
ReplyDeleteYes, they definitely do!
DeleteI sure did! Do you wear flowered garments? LOL
ReplyDeleteI was completely unaware of this movie, and I did go through a Johnny Depp stage briefly.
Unfortunately I do not wear flowered garments Nance, lol. I only watched the first five minutes but you can always check it out if you're a Johnny Depp fan - although it's just his voice in the movie, not him.
DeleteHa! I feel so called out by your last sentence!
ReplyDeleteKids are hilarious. They come up with the wildest things.
I know that's the first thing I would have done too, lol! Kids are definitely something else.
DeleteI did scroll back up! Kids are funny indeed. You could have been wearing a green shirt which would qualify you as looking like him to a child.
ReplyDeleteI knew you would scroll back, lol. Let's hope a green shirt is all it was!
DeleteThat made me laugh out loud! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's just too much, lol!
DeleteThat is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteBut I do wonder... what did she see in Rango that reminded her of you. Would be interesting to follow up. Must have been a habit or gesture as looks can't be the things.
I showed her the photo when she was here Thursday and asked her if it looked like me. She just laughed and said "No, silly Gamma" so I guess we'll never know.
