NaBloPoMo - Day 4

I went on another long blog jog yesterday to visit all the NaBloPoMo participants. I'll tell you what, I think I'm getting too old for new or different blog platforms. Some were straightforward, others I just couldn't figure out. There were a few that I couldn't find any recent posts, even though they are on the participant list, and a couple I could not figure out where to leave a comment. Maybe they had their blogs set for no comments, but whatever it was, it had me frustrated.

At one point Wordpress wouldn't let me comment unless I signed in. I had to go through the whole forgot password ordeal and then reset it. Then, a few blogs later, I realized that after I had signed in, my comments were all linking to a 2011 Wordpress blog I didn't even remember having. I went over to that blog, changed some settings, and then realized my comments weren't linking to anything anymore. I tried to fix it, but I never could figure it out. Then, I kept forgetting to put a link to my blog in my comments. It was such an ordeal!

I guess at least a few of my comments/links went through ok because I did have some nice participants come back over to visit. One of them had one of the same problems, and she probably isn't even aware, but her comment only linked me to her old blogger blogs. Of course, now I have no idea which one of the blogs on the participant list is hers - sigh.

In other news, the next couple of days will be quite busy. I have several appointments and a ton of errands tomorrow. I'll also be doing my cooking and any other prep for Thursday, which is when I have my girls all day. I'll be sure I get my posts up for NaBloPoMo, but I may not be able to make my rounds to visit. I'll do my best.

See you soon! :)

  1. That's one of the reasons I stopped doing the blog hop portion of A to Z in April. It's amazing how many people will sign up for something and then not participate. Or, they'll have blogs that you just can't navigate. Sigh.

  3. I agree with you - some platforms can be quite tricky. I think my site is pretty forward (where you just fill in your info like name, email and URL). I am not a fan of all the "hoops" one has to jump through on some websites. Thanks for trying to visit so many participants despite the headache :)

  4. I watched my grandson for 4 hours this morning and then sat in the recliner for the next few hours. LOL It's wonderful--but very tiring. I agree about the blog commenting. Some sites make you have an account, and others have a template that makes it hard to even find the blog, much less comment on it. Good for you for trying!

  5. Blog hops can be easy or difficult, it depends on how it's run! Wordpress doesn't like me, even when I'm signed in it wants to put all my comments in spam.

  6. Great you were so patient, I know, some blogs are difficult to figure out where to comment.

  7. Yes, how to comment on some blog formats has stumped me too. Sheesh, do we all need to have a computer science degree now?

  8. Same here! I just went to a few tonight and couldn't find what was what. One didn't even look like a blog, I couldn't figure it out. As for Wordpress... sometimes I can comment and it shows my Google image. Sometimes I can comment but it says anonymous and I have to remember to add my name and blog URL to the comment. Some, like you, require me to sign in to Wordpress. But, unless I make a new email and a new Wordpress account I can't. I deleted my Wordpress but it still thinks my email is attached to one to sign into. So, many blogs I just can't comment on at all. I'm not making another email. If the link doesn't make it easy to find the posts, I just move on. Same with the April A to Z.

  9. I had some issues a while back connecting with bloggers who use Wordpress, so you're definitely not alone here, Martha. All have been resolved to this point, so I'm grateful for that. I do understand when life gets so busy that we no longer have the leisure to simply be in the moment. Just take care of what you need to take care of, and we will be here for you when you get back. Love and blessings!

  10. This! So relatable. I figured out how to get on wifi on my flight. Who even am I? (a person who has to ask the checker at the grocery store to help me claim the in store coupons, that's who!). But then, some of the wordpress blogs like me and know me, and some act like I'm some sort of stranger that they've never met and I'm not cool enough for them. I don't get it. I've tried to visit a few blogs that are new to me, and I've struggled to. Like, where are the posts? I didn't understand the format. I know Michelle at MG Doodle studio is posting things on substack. I tried to get to that while on the flight and I couldn't get it, but the wifi on the flight dipped out a few times, so I'll try again.

Good luck with your busy day. Hope all appointments are smooth sailing and enjoy your girls.

  11. YEP, the blogging world has gotten unnecessarily complicated. I really am trying to keep it as straight forward as possible on my end LOL.
