NaBloPoMo - Day 14

I lost my last kitty, Nugget, last year to congestive heart failure. I no longer have any of my own fur babies, but I do have lots of grand-kitties and grand-pups to share with you.

Meet Scout and Audrey. These two are my daughter's latest rescues. They are a little more than a year old. My daughter recently went out of town for a week, and I had the pleasure of having these cuties come stay with me - or what I thought was going to be a pleasure anyway. Let me tell you, these two were the naughtiest kitties I've ever seen!

They were into everything. They pulled all kinds of stuff off of shelves, broke two of my window blinds, and knocked things off tables. They could open cabinets, and they got up to the highest places in the house they could get to. They were even contemplating trying to jump up on the ceiling fans! I actually had to close them in my guest room when I needed a break, and definitely when I left the house and when I went to bed at night. I think taking care of my two little granddaughters is actually easier than taking care of these adorable little menaces!

I think they may have a little Siamese in them, not just by their naughty streak, but something about their eyes, too. I've known people with Siamese kitties, and they seemed to be very active and a bit naughty as well. Luckily, they were as cute, sweet, and loving as could be in between all the naughtiness.

Are you a cat person? Have you ever had any naughty kitties?

I'm linking up over at Feline Friday. :)

  1. Cats are okay, I like dogs better:) Oh yes we babysat our daughters cats one time they were a real active pair and got into lots of trouble:)

    1. I love both. Since your daughter had two, I wonder if it's having a partner in crime makes them more naughty?!

  3. Oh my, what little holy terrors! My cat Her Royal Highness was a tuxedo cat too, but she was very well behaved, apart from clawing one armchair and having occasional accidents outside the litter box when she was old. She only ever broke one thing -- a glass Christmas ornament which I'd foolishly hung on a lower tree branch within her reach.

    1. They were little terrors, lol! My Nugget was a tuxedo as well but he wasn't naught like that - but he did boss me around a lot, seriously!

  4. How cute! I've never had a cat because I'm allergic. But I have a dog.

  5. I am not a cat person. My best friend growing up had a Siamese cat and that thing was always freaking me out! I've actually never had any pets besides fish, but I like calm dogs.

    1. My childhood best friend had two, and not only were they wild, but they were really mean!

  6. Oh wow. I'm not a cat person. I'm allergic. My eyes would be so red and puffy if I ever babysat at a home with a cat when I was a teen. I don't think I realized that kittens could get into that much trouble. My uncle had cats. They are cute, but I cannot go near them.

    1. My youngest son is allergic too. We had cats and it never dawned on us that his allergies were related. When he grew up and moved out his allergies disappeared. He has a cat again now, lol!

  7. My cat can't be trusted to leave goodies alone on the counter and she's a good jumper, even at her age. She can turn on the kitchen sink so I have to lock it with two hair ties. I love her, but won't get another cat after her. She also can be destructive to furniture with her claws!

    1. Mari definitely sounds a wee bit naughty too. Definitely no more pets for me either.

  8. They are a very pretty pair! Maybe they were naughty since they weren't in their own home. Or, just their age and two of them having fun! My cat is almost 15. I didn't have her as a kitten, she showed up in the backyard in 2020, with a chip from Texas that had no info.

    1. They really are pretty little things. My daughter says they are really naughty at home too, but it could just be their age and having two together probably doesn't help make things any calmer. Kitties that just show up are the best. I've had a couple like that myself over the years.

  10. They really are cuties! We have three of our nine that are in to everything but they will out grow that need.

  12. Uh oh, they look like trouble. Yes, I'm a cat person, but I haven't had a cat in ages. (No room where I live.)

  13. These kitties are so cute! That's probably why they get away with being little stinkers. I am definitely a cat person and have one cat who is also naughty but too cute for me to care too much.

    1. Thanks Suzanne. Their cuteness definitely gives them a free pass to get away with doing naughty things!

  14. When Danny and I got married twenty years ago, he had a cat, Allie, and I brought Jordan, my cat, and a dog, Maggie, to add to the mix and step family. Oh, my, those cats hated each other from day one, but we survived. Just another testament to the power of love, I guess. His boys loved Maggie and were so excited to have the first dog in their lives. Do we have pets now. A big, resounding NO!!! It's just too difficult at our age. Blessings, Martha!

    1. That must have been a bit of a crazy time with two cats in the house together who hated each other. Cats are some funny creatures. I'm glad it all worked out!

  18. Maybe they could have used that scratcher bid that I bought for Precious, lol. I am sorry to hear that you lost your sweet angel last year. It's so difficult to lose a pet when it's lived with you so long.

    1. Thank you Lynn. Losing my Nugget was so sad. He was my little buddy. It had just been the two of us since my husband passed away. It's always hard losing our pets no matter what. :(

  19. Scout and Audrey are adorable. They must have felt very comfortable with you. Otherwise, they would have spent the time cowering under a bed or chair.

  20. I'm a cat person, but I grew up in New York City housing that prohibited cats (and dogs) so I never had the urge to have one in my life. My son and his partner, though, have two cats. I think one has Maine Coon in her and she is a love - so big, so gentle. The other, a grey cat, hides and I've never seen her in person.

    1. Maine Coons are gorgeous cats. I had one that was a mix, she was the sweetest kitty ever. I have two hiding grand-kitties too. If I search and find them they hiss at me, lol!

  21. At one time I had 4 cats and yes, they can be naughty. They used to us my furniture for scratching posts and there were climbers too!

    1. I've had some destroyed furniture through the years, but that just comes along with having kitties. I don't think I ever had any who were climbers but I had one who could jump way up to high places!

  22. I also had 2 dogs at the time and they were much better! I don't have any pets now but remember the ones I had. They were good companions! Love, ma

  23. I am not a cat person. I think they are cute (from a distance) but I am a dog gal. I love dogs and would love to have one again, but most likely I will not.

  24. They ARE adorable :) We're on a fur child break ourselves except for the feral we feed out back to keep the mice and rats away since we live on the highway near a field. I had a Balinese Siamese once that was THE sweetest thing ever! But, over the years I've also had Heinz 57's that were just as naughty as your grand kitties.

    1. Thanks Suz. I didn't have much of a choice. They were new to her kitty family and couldn't be kept with the others yet. I was able to just run over for an hour everyday to tend to the others, but I didn't want these two to have to be closed up in a small room by themselves the whole time she was gone.

  26. If I had to pick between cat and dog definitely cat.
But I am secretly a tortoise girl.

  27. I'm cat person, too, until I figured out that I was allergic to them. After the last of our 4 cats died last year, we haven't gotten anymore. It is lonely without them, but I'm not as miserable as I was.

    1. The same thing happened to my youngest son. We always had cats and didn't realize that what was causing his allergies until he grew up and moved out. His allergies just disappeared. I would feel like a horrible mom except for the fact that he now owns a cat, lol!

  28. We are down to one cat, and have decided to keep it that way. Link Linker the Stinker is 12 and thinks he's still a kitten, although he plays with everything, he seldom actually is destructive.

    1. I'm glad he's still young at heart, that's a good thing. I've had a lot of kitties over the years but never any that were as destructive as these two little wild ones were.

  29. I adore cats. Jet passed away three years ago and even though I wasn't ready TBG wanted us to adopt another. We met Binx (whose name was Cole at the time). He was found at 4 weeks old roaming around alone and taken to the no kill shelter. He was only 2.5 pounds so they couldn't give him any shots and kept him in a large cage in the front office away from all of the other cats/dogs. At 12 weeks old and 3.5 pounds we rescued him. When we got him home, he hit the ground running he was so happy to be out of that cage. He was and still is so full of energy it is amazing.
