My family and friends bring more happiness to my life than anything else possibly could. With that said, here's a list of some of the little things in life that bring me joy.
- A hot cup of coffee in the morning
- Falling asleep to the sound of rain
- The smell of a good barbecue
- Laughing until I cry
- Days when I have nothing I have to do
- Warm, freshly baked cookies
- Inside jokes between friends
- The sound of the waves crashing at the beach
- A really good meal
- Holding doors for people who say thank you
- A nice cool pool on a hot summer day
- The smell of popcorn at the movie theater
- Good friends that I've never even met
- When a person's laugh is funnier than the joke
- Seeing a beautiful sunrise or sunset
- Watching my grandbabies sleep
- Long phone calls with an old friend
- The smell of fresh bread baking
- Children and teenagers with good manners
- Days I don't have to set an alarm to get up
- Songs that make me want to play air guitar
- Seeing babies laugh or smile
- Crossing the last thing off my to-do list on a busy day
- Being totally absorbed in a good book
- Walking barefoot on the beach
- Getting into bed with freshly laundered sheets
What are some of the little things in life that bring you joy?
Hi! I found you from San's NaBloPoMo list!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is how excited my dog gets when I get home from work. No one else in my life is ever as excited as she is to see me!
That is definitely a good one! Thanks for coming by for a visit. :)
DeleteI appreciated each of the things on your list. I love a drive on a dirt road, the smell of farmers cutting hay in the Spring, and something that makes me laugh so hard that I cry~!
ReplyDeleteGood ones Mari. I was probably still a child the last time I drove along a dirt road and I don't think I've ever smelled fresh cut hay either. Not much of any of that going on here in Florida.
DeleteI agree with most things on your list. (I'm not a coffee drinker) I would add game night with family/friends, the first real snow of the season, sitting outside in the sun reading a good book, sitting in the living room with all the lights off except the Christmas tree, a hug from TBG and Binx waiting for me when I walk in the door. It's the little things that add up.
ReplyDeleteThose are great! I would definitely add the Christmas tree lights with other lights off to my list. Of course we don't have snow here, so I can't even imagine how nice that would be.
DeleteThis post brought me joy today. That is a great list!
ReplyDeleteThanks Marie!
DeleteI think we should always write a list of what makes life happy and enjoyable and peaceful. You have a great list going. I think I better start writing now, lol.
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll post your too Lynn!
DeleteYour list is beautiful and I agree with so many things! I drink tea, so here is my list of things in life that bring me joy!
ReplyDeleteDoing my blog
Commenting on blogs that I like and follow
Taking walks in nature
Animals, birds and flowers, trees
A hot cup of tea
A snowy day (yes, we got our first snow in Montreal between Sunday and today, and it is a beautiful winter wonderland!)
Rain on a very hot and humid day
Dusk (my favourite time of day) and the beautiful sunset
Autumn, the beautiful colours and crisp, fresh air
Winter, the snow, Christmas, fresh air, warm flannel sheets and polar wear sweaters
Thank you so much for a lovely post!
Good ones Linda. I could definitely add some of these to my list. Unfortunately we don't have much of change of seasons here in Florida, so I don't get to experience the joy of autumn or snow and the comfy warm things that go with it.
DeleteI'm nodding my head at your list; we share most of the same small joys. I agree that it's vital to focus on those moments and to find positive things every day.
ReplyDeleteI think life would be awfully bleak if we didn't.
DeleteMy list could mirror yours, Martha. All great things to love and put a smile on our faces. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeleteYes! All of these. And I cannot tell you how many times I've completely ignored what joke/funny story a person was sharing because I was too charmed and tickled by her laughter whilst sharing it.
ReplyDeleteI'll add:
Putting on my jammies at the end of the day
Hearing my cat snoring on my lap
Whenever my grandson says, "Nana come!"
That is one of the best things ever isn't it? Your additions are great, Nance. I wear those sundress beach cover ups when I'm at home, so it's like I'm always in my jammies. I should have added the no bras or heels to my list too!
DeleteAll good stuff! I will add a glass of champagne/sparkling wine and a piece of dark chocolate to your list, feeling the sun on my face, and seeing a picture of myself that I've never seen before.
ReplyDeleteAll good ones Bijoux! I almost added the champagne and chocolate to my list but then realized it's been years since I've had that, it isn't really bring me joy if I'm not doing it, but I do love it!
DeleteYou have the keys to happiness Martha! -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteIf we don't pay attention to the little things life would be so depressing, especially these days!
DeleteThis is delightful. I love the person's laughter while they tell a funny story, so true.
ReplyDeleteWhen my kitchen counters are cleared of clutter (so rare, I really should make more of an effort)
Making my dad laugh (he was grouchy for the first maybe 75 years of life. He's 85 and is now so easily entertainted)
relaxing on a lounge chair with a book in the sun on a summer day - extra joy, drifting off to sleep for a few minutes on said chair
Ernie, I love that you can easily make your dad laugh now after him being grouchy for so many years. That's the best!!
DeleteThat is a lovely list.
ReplyDeleteI always start my day with thanks and a cup of tea :)
All the best Jan
Those are all lovely.
