Checking In

Hello friends! It's been a while. How has life been treating you so far this year?

When I last wrote I told you about my work situation. There was a lot of back and forth, but let's just say my time there is limited. No, I didn't dramatically slam down my letter of resignation and walk out the door like I probably should have, but at least I've managed to stay Covid free so far.

We went from having the most beautiful sunny 70s weather a couple weeks ago to nothing but cold, gray, dreary days. It's rare for the weather to be like this here in Florida, especially for such a prolonged time. I seriously find it hard to function when it's like this. I would not do well at all living where entire winters are dark and gloomy, I need my sunshine!

In other news, I got word this week that my oldest son, his wife and her whole family have all joined the Omicron club. Thankfully they are all fully vaccinated and all have mild cases - mild as far as Covid overall is concerned anyway.

On the bright side, early last week we got an offer on our vacation property, we countered and they accepted. It's by far the best offer we've had yet. There has been a lot of paperwork and phone calls to deal with, but so far everything is sailing along smoothly. They requested a quick closing which is right around the corner now. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

I have the day off today, but lots I need to get accomplished while I have the chance. I spent the morning cleaning and doing laundry, now I'm off to run some errands. I'll be back later this evening to finally get started on some catch up time with all of you. :)

  1. Sounds like things are looking up! Except for the Omicron club, of course. I hope they all feel better soon!

  2. I need my sunshine too. Today the sun is shining and later, when it warms up, we'll go for our daily walk.

I'm glad things are better for you.

    Have a fabulous day. ♥

  4. I am glad to hear the work situation is working out for you. I am sorry to hear about your family and covid! We have had those cold, gloomy days here in Naples, Fl too. This weekend it is suppose to get really cold!

    1. Thank you Penny. I figured your weather would be the same as ours, we aren't that far apart. Saturday looks like it will be brutal between the cold and the high winds. I saw that we may get gale force winds tonight too, at least along the coast which is where I am. At times like this I wish I was a bit further inland!

  5. The weather has been bitterly cold here and we are buried in a few feet of snow. Pretty depressing, to be honest. Sorry to hear about your son and family. Sooooo many people have it right now. Always good to hear from you! Glad about the house offer, too!

    1. Thanks Bijoux! This variant is so highly contagious, it really does seem like just about everyone has it or has had it recently.

Snow is so beautiful, but I don't think I could handle living in the weather like yours. I hope it warms up a bit soon!

  6. It's always wonderful to see that you've typed out a blog post, Martha. You are very much missed online. I'm happy to hear that your vacation property has sold too.

The temperature is 22*F here in northern-most Indiana but yesterday it was -2*F when I got up. The school kids have had 4 snow days out of 6 days of school so far.... and we have a lake-effect snow warning out starting at 7pm tonight thru tomorrow. Makes me wonder if that might turn into 5 snow days out of 7?!! :) Take good care & please retire again soon! *haha* ~Andrea xoxoxo

  8. Great news that you're leaving that job. Great news you've got an offer on that property. Not so great about your son's family. My daughter, her boyfriend, and his little girl had it over Christmas. They were vaccinated, but had not had the booster yet.

  17. Great news for you on 2 counts. Better time at work, and selling the condo. It'll do good for stress relief. Do hope your son's in-laws and himself and wife do not worsen with this covid. I bet you will have even colder weather from what I saw today. We had minus 5 here this morn, our coldest yet this winter. I got some exercise Tuesday by shoveling 6 inches of snow off the drive. And we did get sunshine all day yesterday and for a few hours this morn. Back to dark and the threat of snow, but not as much. I do hope you get some unwind time with all that you have going on. There have been a lot of the anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers who got that rumor started. But then again, who knows how many variants we may see with new ones popping up all the time, and they will continue to as long as so many remain unvaccinated.

    1. Those days seemed like they lasted weeks, so depressing! It really does seem like just a matter of time with this virus. I guess we can all just be thankful it's a mild variant. I hope you are having a nice relaxing Sunday Suz - stay warm!

  58. When the 2020 stuff started happening our middle spring into action and found a recipe if you will, for cleaning the floors. We do it at least twice a year now and we find it keeps our floors cleaner longer except with the snow and mud and such. Sigh.... oh and pups lots of pups. Good to hear your loved ones are recuperating well. Take care
