Paranormal Activity

The word paranormal simply refers to something that is beyond the range of the normal human experience and/or scientific explanation. I have had many what I consider paranormal experiences. I thought I would ask a few questions today along with my answers to get a feel for how all of you view these kind of topics.

1. Do you believe in ghosts?

I've never seen a ghost, but have had people I trust completely say that they have.

Some of my experiences really make me wonder if there isn't something, but I don't know if ghost is the right word - ghost, spirit, angel, energy? I have no clue.

One of my experiences happened when I lived in Ocala Florida. I would often see shadows passing through the house at night. I lived in a wooded area and my house was very secluded. Not to mention I always had blinds or curtains on all windows - no way anything outside could have caused the shadows, and there was nothing moving in the house to cause them either.

Nothing scary ever happened, but there was no reasonable explanation for what could have caused those shadows around the house. For whatever reason it never frightened me. When I think back to it I really wonder why I wasn't afraid.

2. Have you ever seen a UFO?

Yes, but not like a typical flying saucer. You know how those search helicopters look when they shine down the spotlight that light up an entire street? Well, they used to anyway, now they use night vision, but hopefully you know what I mean.

One night many years ago there was a big bright light that looked exactly like that coming down the street, but there was absolute silence, no sound of a helicopter or anything else. A few seconds later it just disappeared. There were other people with me who witnessed it too. I still have no idea what it could have possibly been, but it was definitely not a helicopter.

3.. Do you believe in Cryptids? (Bigfoot, the Loch Ness monster, etc.)

This is one I was always extremely skeptical about, but then back twelve years or so ago my kids and I saw something as we were coming home late one night. It looked identical to what bigfoot, or the skunk ape as it's called in Florida is always described as.

Whatever it was that we saw was huge, about 7 feet tall, it moved faster than anything I could ever imagine, and the stench it left behind was horrible. We still talk about it just about every time we get together and wonder about what we could have possibly seen.

I would love it if you would answer these questions either in the comments or on your own blog. I have lots more to share if this proves to be something there is interest in. I find this kind of stuff fascinating!

  1. I believe we see things we can't process and then blame it on ghosts, UFOs or cryptids. There is so much we don't know and so much we see that we don't understand. Fascinating indeed.

    Have a fabulous day. ♥

  2. Those were fun ones. Yes, I believe in ghosts, felt the presence but never saw one yet. Yep, saw 6 UFO over Cape Canaveral back in the 60s and the jets chasing them. Big Foot? His name is Darryl.

    1. Now I'm wondering if you could identify the presence, like a visit from a family member or something. Very cool about the UFOs, especially seeing the jets chasing them. I've seen a lot on the news about UFOs and footage the government has lately. I almost fell out of my chair when you mentioned his name is Darryl lol!

  4. Like you, I’ve never seen a ghost or even had any sort of paranormal experience, but people I trust have and from their extremely detailed stories, I have to believe them. I’m not sure what to think about UFOs. They are definitely out there; I just don’t believe they are being flown by extraterrestrials. I think it’s more likely to be nerdy people who are doing things ‘under the radar’ and just never get caught. Or it’s Russians or Chinese, etc.

I had to look up the term Cryptids. Yes, I think there are species we don’t know about, but it’s hard for me to believe that creatures who are huge have been able to elude scientists. I mean, how can they be that intelligent?

    Fun topic!

    1. I've had so many weird experiences! I didn't want to start out telling too much or people might think I'm out of my mind lol. I've always thought the same thing about UFOs, definitely don't think there are little green men flying around in them. I still have no explanation for the weird bright light I saw in the sky though. I just went back and added to the term Cryptids so people would know what it is. I have always thought they were just big hoaxes, but still no idea what my kids and I saw. It was one of the scariest looking things I've ever seen!

  5. You know, I'm not sure if I do believe any of these happenings actually occur. I have
never been in a situation or place to see any ghosts, UFO, or Big Foot myself. I do
know personally of folks I trust that have seen ghostly appearances, so I leave myself
open to chance. If I ever see ET in person and he needs to call home, I'll try not
to be frightened, lol. And as for as a Saskatch is concerned, I'd rather not run into
anything that huge. Lynn and Precious

  7. 1. I'd like to believe in ghosts, but even when I've been places that ghosts are said to reside, I miss them entirely. To my great disappointment.

    2. No, I've never seen a UFO.

    3. Cryptids? I've never heard that term before. If you're talking Bigfoot and such, no, I don't believe in them. Every big story about them has been faked, and those fakes came to light. So, the newer ones I eye with distrust. Someone's faking something, and it'll come out eventually. (I'm not a fan of conspiracy theories.)

1.Im not sure about ghosts, but I do believe in angels. I have had a few close calls, but due to divine intervention I wasn't hurt or killed. I like to think I have an angel looking out for me anyway
    2. I have never seen a UFo, but I think I saw a drone one night mapping the area.

It still scares me when I think about it, especially since it was right in my neighborhood!

  12. Although I think there is much that we don't know about the world, I am doubtful about ghosts. I do believe in UFOS although I've never seen an actual alien spacecraft. Big Foot? As populated and invasive as humans are, I doubt that he (she?) could stay that effectively hidden.

  14. I don't believe ghosts, but one time in our neighborhood at night, some one was normally walking. Then, all of a sudden they just disappeared like that! Someone caught it on camera and sent it in the neighborhood chat. It was really creepy and there we're a lot of explanations. I didn't know what to believe lol.

  15. Yes, I most definitely believe in ghosts/spirits because I've witness it. And it happened while I was still living in Orlando and the apartment that I lived in was behind an old home (it was the garage apartment). One day I was visiting the landlord, who lived in the old house and while I was sitting in the living room talking to them, I actually saw what looked like a man with dark hair and a beard walking (sort of floating) down the staircase that led up to the bedrooms. It happened so quickly that I first doubted what I had seen. However, I knew deep inside that it was a ghost/spirit that had something to do with the house. I got chills, yet it didn't frighten me.

UFO's Yes! Even as a child I believed in life on other planets.

Cryptids? Yes, but I've never seen one.

I've always been open to things that are esoteric. I believe that there are certain things that might not be logical or even explainable, but that doesn't make them less-real.

I don't know if you have ever heard of Reiki, but I am a certified Reiki practitioner. So I am very sensitive to the "energy" that is around us.

I have a good friend who is also a practitioner. The energy that flows from her hands has always just amazed me!

  28. I'm not sure whether I do or don't believe in ghosts. I guess I'd make up my mind if anything paranormal happened to me. One thing I do believe is that objects or places that have witnessed very emotional happenings can carry an imprint of that feeling and a sensitive person would pick up on that emotion. 34. I don't really believe in ghosts per se', but I do believe in Angels, God's messengers. We've had some experiences with unexplained events that could only have been angelic intervention. I do believe that there are many things that happen in this world that we cannot fully understand, but it is best to not try to venture too far into that world as it can lead us astray. Some things are better left alone. My hubby and I thought we saw a UFO one evening, but it disappeared pretty quickly. It also could have been a comet. Big Foot, etc.? Well, there are some strange things in the deep woods and swamps, etc., but they usually have some explanation once explored more fully. Some things are better left alone, and one day we will understand it all more completely when we get too heaven, and we will be thankful that we didn't wander too far into that "other world" of darkness that is out there.

    1. I believe in angels too, maybe even guardian angels or some kind of divine intervention. There are definitely plenty things we don't understand and like I said in a previous comment, I sure wouldn't intentionally mess with it, but what if we just experience something? It's out of our control. I've had lots of paranormal experiences but I sure didn't do anything to make them happen or go looking for them.

Martha all kinds of scientific studies were done in the area which was in a remote area in the Wrightsville/Carolina Beach area. Until they visited most of the researchers expect it was headlights from passing cars. But there was no road near by the tracks. I only went that one time (I think the Dads were more frightened than the kids) 2 of them to get four kids to safety. LOL Over the next 20 years the area became more developed you know how it goes more condos etc for tourist. I suspect that train tracks were torn up for those projects. They cited several reports coming from commercial airline pilots who, all this time, were told to keep their mouths shut (so to speak).

I've certainly never asked to experience the things I have or invite them into my life in any way, but boy have I ever had some experiences! I went super light with this post but doubt I'll say too much more on the subject just because of the majority of responses.

  44. I'm not entirely sold on the idea of any kind of afterlife, so that kind of eliminates believing in ghosts. I sort of believe in UFOs, less in the sense of alien type stuff, but more like new technology being tested and we're not told about it. I'm on the fence about the bigfoot type of things. The earth is huge, so it's highly possible that we don't know about everything on it. I'm not necessarily convinced that Bigfoot is out there, but do acknowledge the possibility.

    1. I've had too many really crazy experiences to write off ghosts - or some kind of energy or something. I agree with you on the UFOs, I've always thought they are probably something from another country, not another planet, but who knows really. I'm sure there are lots of things on our planet we still don't know about. I was always extremely skeptical about Bigfoot and such, thinking of them more as mythical, but I sure would like to know what it was the kids and I saw that one night. It was the creepiest thing I've ever seen!

  45. I'm not sure if I believe in ghosts. I've had some weird things happen recently that I can't explain but I'm still not sure.

I do however believe in Cryptids. I don't think we have studied the most deepest parts of the ocean and things that we don't know about could still be down there. Scientists are sometimes going out in the jungle and finding plant life, animals and insects that they previously thought were extinct or finding new species. So it's possible.

Now UFO's I do believe in. I think it's ridiculous to think that in the vast Universe that we are the only intelligent life out there. I'm sure that somewhere out there an alien race exists and might have even come here.

As far as the Cryptids go, I'm sure there is all kinds of stuff out there we don't know about, and I'm sure there are plenty of hoaxes out there too, especially with today's technology. I also wouldn't doubt alien life out there somewhere, but I don't know that that has anything to do with the unidentified objects many of us have seen in the skies.

    1. Thanks Michelle, I appreciate that. I would love to tell more, and had hoped this post would open up some good conversations and interest, but from the majority of responses I've had I probably won't take it any further.

  47. Strange things happen, or are seen, and I expect they have natural causes, not paranormal. I don't think there are existing big foots/feet, but with the same legends around the world, there must have been some large apelike creature at one time. Same with Loch Ness. Perhaps the last of a dinosaur like aquatic animal? UFOs? Kind of scary to think they are true, but why not? We don't know everything there is about what's out there, far, far out there. Although to assume it's a life like ours, building ships to fly like we imagine, that might not be it. So, I guess I'd say no to the UFOs, yes to life out there somewhere! But, it may look like nothing we expect. Wasn't it an old Star Trek where they were told not to assume all life was carbon based?

    1. I'm quite sure many strange things actually have another cause, but I sure can't write off paranormal activity with some of the things I've experienced - I'm not talking about this post specifically, these were my paranormal light experiences lol. I've always thought UFOs might be things from other countries or even from our own government. I do think there could be other life out there, but I don't think they are little green men flying around the on earth in flying saucers - but I guess even that's possible. I stay open minded on these kind of topics.

  48. I'm not quite sure about most paranormal activity although I've been around long enough to know there is often more to a situation than it first seems.

  49. I do believe in ghosts or spirits...I had a ghost named Gus at the Historical Museum. I was not scared. I saw my Father in Law many years after he died...that was spooky...I saw him for just an instant. The same with a couple of well loved dogs...there for a few seconds and then gone.
I have not seen a UFO or a bigfoot...but anything is possible!

    1. I love reading this Connie. So few who commented have ever had any kind of experiences and I was very surprised about that. I love that you have seen your much loved dogs too! Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with me.

  50. I just read through the comments and am surprised there aren’t lots of ghost stories! I’m close to a couple of people who’ve told me about their ghost experiences as well as some bloggers, so I expected some interesting stories here! I wouldn’t let it discourage you from posting more on the topic. I find it incredibly fascinating and would love to hear what happened to you.

    1. I was so surprised too Bijoux, but there was only a small handful. I may still talk about some of my other experiences, but I'm sure some will think I'm crazy or dabbling with the dark side or something - which of course I'm not!

  51. Kind of scary to say the least. I don't know what to say except that I do believe in spirits and life after death. And UFOs are not too far fetched either. There must be alien life out there. Why wouldn't there be?

    1. At least you are open minded! I would think there may be other life out there in the universe, but not so sure if that has anything to do with some of the strange sightings in the sky known as UFOs.

  52. Never experienced any ghosts or saw UFOs and I don't believe in Cryptids. It all makes for some interested reading though which I enjoy.

  53. I love the questions AND your answers.

I ABSOLUTELY believe in ghosts. I had my own experiences and I blogged about them years ago; here is one portion. https://busybeesuz.com/2010/02/11/living-with-the-unliving/
I wrote more details about it a few days after that post. Still creeps me out.

I swear I saw Big Foot as a kid; sitting in the back seat, staring out the window as my Father drove down a wooded empty street. WHAT DID I JUST SEE? I'll never forget that either.

UFO's. As a kid I was afraid they were coming to get me. Now? I think they'd return me as soon as they figured out I needed to eat every few hours and I'm cranky. But, my super duper intelligent science loving daughter says: "If we are here, why wouldn't there be other beings OUT there? The universe is vast."

    1. Wow Suz, your story was so creepy! I had to go read the other posts too, I had to know more. I sure bet you were glad to get out of that place!

Were you in Florida when you saw Bigfoot? What my kids and I saw still freaks me out when I think about it.

I also agree that there probably is other life out there, I don't know if that's what the UFO sightings are all about though. I've always thought that was more likely government or things from other countries.

Thanks so much for sharing your stories with me!

  54. Your answers are very interesting. I think that there could be others out there in the universe. I believe in ghosts but haven't seen any. I believe more in signs from beyond. Bigfoot....you never know!

    1. I don't know if ghost is the right word. I've had plenty of unexplained experiences but what it is exactly I just don't know. Some things I've experienced are more than subtle signs. I definitely think there could be other life out there somewhere and I'm sure there are critters/creatures we don't know about yet too. I just wish I could explain the things I've personally seen!

  55. YES - MAYBE - YES!

When I was young a very good friend that I'm still friends with and have known since we were 2 and 3 had a ghost, their aunt Gladys, that lived in their house. I say that with conviction as I saw things when staying with them that could not be explained ANY other way. Years later when we were living in that 120 year old house in Michigan there were several times that the master bedroom light would turn on at 3AM and we were sound asleep and there were some "cold" spots in the house. Since we had completely had the house rewired and the electrician could find no reason for it, we started to believe in Mary the ghost. 3 different women died living in that house I came to find out when I researched the ownership. The first 2 were both named Mary and had been married to the same man.

With all the years we lived in the desert near military bases, it's hard to say what we actually saw, but I believe anything is possible.

When we lived on Elizabeth Lake, local folklore was that the devil himself kept his pet dragon in the lake. There were many "unexplained" instances and things you think you saw, but could never confirm... I'll leave you with this story http://www.laalmanac.com/mysterious/my06a.php

    1. So I take it all your ghosts were nice and friendly? I would love to hear more! Thanks for sharing the link. Did you ever see anything unusual at the lake?

      Delete
    2. I'd say yes the ghosts were friendly for the most part - Gladys tended to show up when we needed a lesson and she'd scare us to silence, but the cold spots in Michigan were a bit eerie because they would happen at odd times and leave me wondering. There were a few unexplained sightings in the lake, but one was later explained as a dusk water pick up by helicopter fighting a fire we didn't know about until later.

    3. I've had lots of experiences but can't imagine having a ghost around all the time, had to be creepy even if they meant no harm. I think the cold spots would have freaked me out too.

      Delete
    4. Yeah, the cold spots were the freakiest and quite honestly the lights going on in the middle of the night for no apparent reason was actually pretty freaky too though we never found anything amiss.

      Delete
    5. We had a similar experience, the TV in the living room would turn on in the middle of the night, full blast. It happened every night for about a week and then just every once in a while after that. That was pretty freaky too!

  56. I believe that after death some energy can visit us

    ReplyDelete
  57. I believe something! Not sure what though. I do know I have had several experiences where I felt my mom visited me after she passed away. My brother is very religious and says he thinks that was either God comforting me (IF so it worked!) or the devil trying to tempt me! I don't know! I never doubt anyone's experience with the paranormal!

    1. I would like to think it is actually your mother visiting you, lets say as an angel. I am the same way you are. I have had experiences but don't know exact what it is. Ghost just doesn't seem the right word. I would never doubt other's experiences either!

  58. Wonderful questions~ Yes, I do believe in ghost. I have lived with one. I do believe in UFOs but never seen one. And I struggle with the other. I struggle with it cause one has never been caught. I know some scientist think they come from another realm and come and go through worm holes or openings we don't see. However, I am not sure. Great topic.

    1. Thanks Pam. I would love to hear more about the ghost that lived with you!

  59. 1. Do I believe in ghosts? Yes. Angels and demons are busy all around us. Some people have sharper senses and can feel, or see them.

    2. UFOs. Our military has weapons and airplanes which we can't even imagine. So often I think it is us doing maneuvers. "No" to aliens from outer space. Demons will be manifesting as aliens during the end time to fool everyone into bowing to the antichrist.

3.Big Foot and Loch Ness? God created so many awesome creatures and we have not discovered all of them yet. Big Foot is one of those creatures and I think Nessie is a dinosaur. Yup. I believe they are still here alive and hiding. I also don't believe in evolution and the billions and billions of years timeline.

As we get closer and closer to Jesus' return, it is going to get wilder and wilder.
