G - Golf

Florida is known as the golf capital of the world. We have over 14,000 golf courses, no two are the same. The Sunshine State is one of the most popular places on the PGA Tour and is home to many of the world's best golf courses. Many of the golf pros are residents here as well. Golf is just one more reason on the list that Florida is one of the top vacation destinations.

I can't tell you much more about golf since miniature golf the only kind of golf we usually play. It's a good thing too since mini golf is the only kind of golf we can afford to play on a regular basis - golf is not a cheap sport! If you are heading here for a vacation any time soon and are interested in more information about golf here in the Sunshine State check out Florida Golf.

More Florida fun on the way tomorrow for the A to Z Challenge.

Note - I'm finally going for my first vaccine today. I'm a bit nervous about it. I have my A to Z posts ready and scheduled to post automatically for tomorrow and Saturday just in case I'm not feeling well. Wish me luck!

  1. I'm sure you'll be just fine after your vaccine!!

We used to play golf. Not any more tho...green fees got to the point that we could buy a week's worth of groceries for 18 holes...just ONE round. Ridiculous. We sold our clubs & never looked back.

  2. Miniature golf is the only kind I've ever played. It just never seemed that fun to me. My ex husband played and I worked with quite a few people who golfed. One woman used to try and talk me into going with them. I told it wasn't my thing and she always said that the fun part was driving the golf cart. I still took a pass...lol

    1. For what it costs to play golf you could just buy a golf cart to ride around in lol!

  3. Some of Florida appeals to me a lot. Golf? Nah. I hope your vaccine goes well and you have no adverse reactions. Take care.

  4. Golf is not my sport either, but I have played mini golf a few times. Good luck with the vaccination, I wish they would get a move on here! Hugs, Valerie

  6. Good luck with the jab! All my girlfriends had no side effects whatsoever, all the men in my life needed a day on the sofa to recover! x

  7. I've had both shots, Martha, and the only side effect was a sore arm for about a day. You'll come through with flying colors!
    Blessings!

  8. Lots of golf here on the island too. The season is much shorter of course.

    Yay for the vaccine!

  9. the good news about the vaccine is, that the older we are the less of a reaction.. the only thing i can think of that is good about the age of 76. good luck.. we had zero side effects from both shots.
I have never tried golf, but did play the mini kind a few times. I was not impressed with it though. but then i am not into sports at all... I rather walk around a preserve with my camera than hit balls of any kind.. OR eat a burger in Culvers. he he he. you are doing a great job of the ABC Florida

    1. Thanks Sandra! Fingers crossed that I won't have any reactions either. I agree with you on sports, never been my thing. I love going to Selby Gardens to stroll around and take photos, it's been a long time since I've been there now.

  10. I knew golf was a popular sport there, but 14,000 courses - it boggles the mind!

  11. I can't tell you how many times people believed they'd be the one to finally succeed in teaching me to play.😝
Not to paint with too-wide a brush, but having worked 15 years at a golf resort, I think most of them act like entitled little boys. Give me a fun game of putt-putt any day!

    1. That sounds about right Myra. I agree with you, a little game of putt-putt is much more fun. Especially when you have little ones to play it with :)

  14. Congrats on getting your vaccine, the second dow seems ti have more atereffects than the first one does, so if anything you'll experience only mild effects. Achy arm seems to be the most common. Golf is a wonderful sport, I'm no golfer but some of my sons are. It's good exercise especially if you don't use a golf cart.

    1. That's what I've heard about the vaccine, I'm more concerned with the possibility of a severe allergic reaction with the first one. I have a lot of weird allergies and had a very bad reaction to the flu vaccine years ago, I don't take that anymore.

Glad your sons enjoy golf, but like someone else said, it seems like driving the cart is the most fun part lol.

  15. Hooray for your vaxx!

I met my husband in a golf class in college (way back when you had to take PE as a requirement). He got an A and I got a C. But we always say finding each other was the best thing we got out of that class.

  18. Wishing you luck on your shot. I've had mine. A little tired afterward, but not much more than that.

I know Steve really misses all the golf courses in Florida. He still golfs here, but there isn't as many public courses as in Orlando.

    1. Thanks Dee. I'm glad you didn't have any severe reaction, sure hope I don't either. I was thinking about Steve when I wrote this, you had mentioned before that he played. I wondered if he missed that about living here.

  19. Good luck with your vaccine! I had no issues with either (Pfizer) although I did get a bit of a headache after my second one. I know so many people with a passion for golf, like my late husband. I don't share it at all. I do love walking around a beautiful golf course though. Putt putt golf is much more my style--frustrating for me too because I'm not good at planning my shots.

    1. Congrats on getting set up for your vaccine too. I would have preferred the Pfizer, seems to have less side effects, but I was prepared to take whatever I could get. It will be Moderna for me.

  25. Lots of good weather for playing golf down your way.
I tried playing golf a couple of times but didn't do so great. Fist time I played was when we lived in Scotland. Husband played at St Andrews which I think is the first golf course.

  27. Oh, I hope the vaccination went well! My daughter got her first dose yesterday, only symptom so far is a sore arm. That's the only symptom I had for both doses, but I know several people that have had fever and chills, and some aches, and tiredness, mostly with the second dose.

I have a bit of a miniature golf story...perhaps I will tell it on my blog sometime soon...

  33. Sounds like the jab went well. Congrats. Although there was one side effect I did not discuss too much: the overwhelming sense of "oh, thank God". Tears were involved.

The closest I get to golf is subbing for the golf coach at the high schools. Yes, the schools have golf teams. Interesting kiddos.
