30 Day Challenges

I've been giving lots of thought to my 30 day challenges for the upcoming year. I haven't decided all of them yet but I do have he first few months figured out.

My focus for January will be weight loss, that has to come first. It's time to get back to healthier eating, walks, and workouts. I've put on fourteen pounds since the pandemic came along, but it sure feels more like forty!

Of course I won't be able to lose all fourteen pounds and get back in shape during a short 30 day challenge, but it will be my focus. I hope to have a good jump start by the end of the month and then stick with it as I move on to a new challenge in February. It shouldn't be too difficult, I just need to go back to my pre-pandemic lifestyle. I'll share more about that next week.

If you are doing the 30 day challenges with me, have you decided on what your January challenge will be?

If you missed my first post about the 30 day challenges for 2021 you can find it here. I would love to have you join in the fun!

  1. This sounds like a wise and healthy and all-round-good idea!!!!!! One we all could join you in.

I have been indulging in more Sweets, this Christmas Season, than usual. -sigh- And it is not, not, not wise or healthy. So that is a place to start. Return to healthy eating.

Can't take walks, due to about 2 feet of snow, and ice, at this time. But I can still move more, even in the house. -smile- Anything, which is not sitting in my comfy chair, or in my computer chair, is GOOD!

    I applaud you!!!!

I don't usually do things like Challenges. But I can still contemplate your plan.

    Wish you well!!!!!!!!!!

Wish everyone well, who wants to do the same thing.

    1. Thanks, eating healthy and exercise is always a good thing. I really let things slide with all the quarantining this year. I hope you will join me :)

  2. I don't usually do challenges, even 1 or 2 or 10 days, 30 days is a lot. but i am going to consider the health one and might join in, after i think about it for a while. i am up 7 lbs since March and was up 9, but lost 4, then gained 2 all in 10 days.

    1. I know you normally don't play along on challenges but there won't be a link up or anything for these challenges, just sharing your progress in comments on my posts or on your own blog if you want to. Eating healthy and getting more exercise is a good one for all of us!

  3. That's a good decision. The food here in the clinic is good, I am sure I will weigh more when I leave! Have a good week, hugs, Valerie

  4. I'm with you needing to focus on Health and Wellness, and weigh t loss is part. I had lost some weight the first three months, and then you would think with being out more in the summer and fall I wouldn't have put it back on, plus another 4 pounds! I have some real longer term health goals, but a jump start on eating better an dmor exercise has to be my 30 day challenge for January.

  5. I have. I have decided for January that I will drink my vinegar water every day. I'm very haphazard about it.

So ..... January! Vinegar water! EVERY DAY!

Focusing on your health and wellness is a good challenge. I need to find some healthier recipes that both my hubby and I will both enjoy. Have a great day!

  8. Good luck with the weight loss, I seem to always be wanting to lose a couple of pounds. The last time I lost 10 pounds I had a hysterectomy. That was no fun, but the weight loss was. Of course it came back in no time.

  10. I am on a constant diet. Because once you stop dieting, of course the weight comes back. I am hungry most of the time, too, WAH! And I am barely maintaning.

  11. Can a challenge be to not watch ANY news? I know it would be for me, but I"m sure I can't stay away. It's depressing but I'm a sucker for news

weight problems are with us all since this pandemic (staying home, eating from boredom).

    Good luck Martha.

    1. Not watching news can be one of the 30 day challenges! It will definitely be one of mine. I totally gave up watching news probably twenty years ago and then this year came along and that is the only thing that has been on our TV day and night ever since. I feel like I still have to stay on top of things for now but hopefully in a few months I can give it up again or at least limit it to a normal hour a day update.

  12. The other day I was wondering about how anything like this is doomed to fail for me. That was when it hit me. My mother used to always say she was going to do something, and then she never did. And somehow, I follow the pattern.

Good luck with your challenges. I'll cheer you on from the sidelines.

    1. Thanks Liz. You can always change the pattern if you really want to. Jump in if you happen to feel motivated along the way :)

  13. I began intermittent fasting the week before Thanksgiving, and it's been a good thing for me. I've lost between 7 and 8 pounds and haven't eaten as many Christmas goodies, being more mindful. Look forward to the 30 days in January and plans for the following months!

  15. I haven't gained weight but I am not as active like I was when I went to the gym four times a week! I'm thinking of adding daily yoga (15 min) as well as the regular exercising I do three days a week. It's fun to think of new goals :)

    1. I've become very inactive too which isn't like me at all. I've noticed a big change in my strength, balance and flexibility over this year too. I like the idea of adding in yoga, that's a great idea! It really is fun to think of new goals and it has me feeling very motivated too :)

  19. I think I will accept that first 30 day challenge.
I need to get off 7 pounds that have been making me crazy this "pandemic" time.
I'm not suppose to eat flour or fruit to keep my pre-diabetes in check..been cheating a bit too much. So I'm in this for the long haul.

  21. I have glanced at that list, and not decided on anything. But I should do something about my weight. And I keep telling myself I need to take the time to go somewhere and walk...just for me. Being in fresh air does me so much good. I will be interested in reading your coming posts.

  22. I gained some weight in the pandemic. I cooked
and baked galore, but I enjoyed it too. So my challenge is to lose at least 10 pounds. I will, I've done it before on my N.Y resolution.
    I'll take the challenge.
    Merry Christmas and many blessings.

    1. Same here Fabby. I really did enjoy all the good southern cooking and baking I did during the pandemic, it's not usually a part of my daily lifestyle. I will get right back on track in January and looking forward to it too. I'm so glad you are taking the challenge. I'm looking forward to hearing about your progress. I really think it makes it fun to have a group doing it together. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  28. My 30 day challenge will be a healthier life style. I didn't gain any weight during the pandemic (lost some, in fact), but, I still need to lose some more and I need to drink plenty of water and exercise more. So, healthier eating, more movement, and more water!
