Thanksgiving Week Recap

We have had such a nice Thanksgiving week. We did things way different than usual, but I think we all enjoyed it even more.

We started with our traditional dinner last Sunday, just me and the hubs. The kids all came over later for dessert. I split all the dinner leftovers up four ways and sent them all home with plenty for a couple meals for themselves. Hubby and I enjoyed delicious leftovers the next two days.

Then the plan was to pick up the sandwich ring platters on Wednesday afternoon. Since the kids were all available Wednesday, we decided to have our second Thanksgiving meal that evening. My youngest son was on call for work on Thursday and the other was still unsure of the plans at his fiancée's parent's home for Thanksgiving. I'm so glad I had gone overboard and ordered three big sandwich rings even though there were only six of us. It all worked out in the end for everyone to spend the whole afternoon here on Thanksgiving as well.

We had beautiful sunny weather with temps in the 70s. We spent the entire day outside tossing around the frisbee, having a picnic with the leftovers, and sitting around in a big socially distanced circle just spending time together. Usually there would be football blaring on the TV on Thanksgiving, but not this year. It was a nice, quiet, fun family day. It was perfect!

We were able to get the whole family together three times within the week. I don't think that's happened since all three still lived at home. I loved every minute of it.

In the evening I got a message from my daughter telling me her kitties were having a nice Thanksgiving too, along with this cute photo of them all sharing their meal.

About an hour later, I got a message from my son telling me their kitties were also enjoying Thanksgiving, along with this photo.

It cracked me up that they both sent the same thing. I just had to share.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. Enjoy the weekend!

Linking up to Saturday's Critters.

    The cats also enjoy it.
We do not have Thanksgiving in the Netherlands, we celebrate Sinterklaas, which is a children's party on December 5th, and of course Christmas.

  29. We only have two children but have not been together for every Thanksgiving, nor Christmas, but have most Christmases...even when oldest daughter was in LA. Even now, though, with both living an hour away...it is pure joy to all be together.

I am so glad you guys got all the visiting in. I know it will warm your heart for days to come, every time you think about it.

  32. I loved your cute kitty photos...that was funny that both kids did the same thing! Sounds like a lot of fun time together as family, and that is just as it should be! We had a great time here too with family together, playing some outdoor games (corn hole and tossing a nerf football back and forth) and just general gabbing as we cleaned up after the feast and sat down later for some pie. yes, Thanksgiving in Florida can be really nice when the weather cooperates! It was a little too bright and hot on our back porch in the afternoon to sit out there and eat as I had hoped to do, but we were appropriately seated inside to keep the air flowing around us and felt perfectly safe and happy. Now to get ready for Christmas!! Thanks for this great post. Loved it.

    1. Thanks Pamela! The photos were so funny, I still can't believe they sent the same thing. Sounds like our Thanksgiving Day was very similar. I thought the same thing when I saw your photos. Our back porch faces west too, we had to move around to the side yard in the shade. It was no problem since we were just using folding chairs :)
