Friday Already

I can't believe it's Friday again already, where does the time go?! It hasn't really been a busy week here, but an exciting one. There was another trip to Fort Lauderdale to pick up my youngest son at the airport. He has moved back from New Mexico. We are so excited to have him home!

I thought you might enjoy some recent Florida photos this week. I know many of you are already in cold and even snow. This is a look at the beach on the SW side of Florida where we live. Currently gorgeous mid 70s weather and so perfect.

You know a post can't go by without me mentioning food. We actually enjoyed a really nice meal right here in our flavorless town on the SW side of Florida. We generally rely on our trips to Fort Lauderdale for good food, but were pleasantly surprised when we tried this place. I had the chicken and waffles which were terrific and hubby had the Hungry Heifer BBQ platter in the background. Really good stuff!

I took this photo coming or going between home and Fort Lauderdale at some point. This is the gorgeous Florida Everglades. It was such a pretty day too. The water levels in the Everglades are still so high since Hurricane Irma that the boat ramps are still flooded up into the parking lots. I'm standing right at the water line for this shot.

Fort Lauderdale has a huge Iguana problem. I love the green Iguanas even though I know they have become a real nuisance there, but I'm not at all fond of these ugly spiny tailed Iguanas, and obviously the ducks aren't happy about them either. Just for the record, the duck scared him away. We were both relieved :D

I'll close with a s sunset photo from our balcony at our home sweet second home in Fort Lauderdale, so pretty!

That's a wrap on this week's five. I hope you have all had a great week. See you soon. Cheers! :)

  1. Such beautiful photos! Really love the sky in the one of the everglades. Are iguanas native to Florida or those pets that have been released? Either way, I think I'm on the duck's side in the argument. Glad the duck scared it away for you. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Thanks so much Jean! Iguanas aren't native to Florida but they do thrive here in our hot weather. They are a result of people turning pets loose, but they have totally taken over some areas of Florida. The green ones are beautiful but the Black spiny tailed iguanas are terrifying! :D Hope you have a great weekend too!

    1. Thanks JoJo. Believe me, I keep a very safe distance from the scare spiny ones. The green ones act more like little green dogs and they are adorable and have so much personality! :)

  3. Love the sunset! I have to admit the iguanas would scare me to death :) Both your and your hubby's meals looked delicious. I could only eat a fraction of what was on your plate and would indeed have leftovers for a few days down the road :)

Hubby and me were just commenting that it is November 17th already. Where has this month (year, decade) gone? Time is indeed marching on!

    1. I'm the exact same way Betty. I was able to eat exactly half of the chicken and waffles and never even touched the sides! Luckily all was good leftover :)

  4. Thank you for all the warm and sunny pictures from Florida. We've no snow today but it's a wet one. Dark and gloomy and rain. I really needed some sunshine !

  5. I'm not at all fond of the ugly spiny tailed Iguanas either - too prehistoric looking or something LOL. Glad the duck scared him away. Have a GREAT weekend.

  7. The shot of the beach is wonderful - you framed the beach umbrellas so nicely. I wouldn't mind a day at the beach with a little umbrella in my drink! I actually like all types of iguanas, but I know they have become a problem in many places because they don't have any natural predators. Families and (unwanted) pets!!! Thanks for visiting my blog!

    1. Thanks so much Angie! It's a shame what's happening with the Iguanas, it's not their fault. They have such personality and are basically like little dogs if any one cared to pay attention. I love them too, but some more than others :D
