I've still been junkin' and treasure hunting in the back room. I've been going at it day and night on my days off - to the point that I didn't even take my usual catch up blogging break this past weekend!
I'm still amazed at the amount of stuff my mother had saved, and I've found tons of treasures. Here are just a few things I found that struck something within me this past weekend...
I can see why so many vintage collectors collect baby stuff or pottery in those beautiful baby colors. Maybe it's because my kids are all practically grown that I am drawn to these items. At the same time, some of these items are much older than my own children, they are mostly from back when I was born. Either way, they are so precious. The prints shown above are Maud Tousey Fangel lithographs. Aren't they beautiful?
The shoes were my little baby shoes that my mother saved all these years....
And here's a close up of the adorable baby cards. These are from way back when I was born...
Still working ten hour days for a few more weeks. I promise to catch up soon.
Enjoy the rest of the week :)

Hey I had shoes just like that! Very cute! Love your treasures Martha.
ReplyDeleteTen hour days are ewww I will say but looks like great treasures were found at your bay
ReplyDeleteLOL I guess it's because we're the same basic age, but my mom saved the same things and I have matching baby gift cards. Did your mom bronze any of your shoes.
ReplyDeleteYou will never be able to part with these precious baby things. I still had a ceramic baby shoe that had been sent to me with flowers in them for each girl. I finally gave them their shoe.
ReplyDeleteIt must be something from your mom's/inlaw's generation in that they didn't throw away cards, LOL. We found lots of cards from many years ago here when we were sorting through things. It was interesting too to see how cards had changed over the years in paper used, formats, etc.
ReplyDeleteCute baby things; something perhaps for you to pass down to your children's children (many years from how of course :)
do take care of yourself, Martha!
betty
lovely she has saved for you to see
ReplyDeleteI love the vintage baby things. I can't imagine wht it's like to go through all those things.
ReplyDeleteWell those are some very cute TREASURES.. see treasure hunting in your own house can be way too fun! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteI have those kind of things stored away someplace here at my house, only they were my kids and not mine. My mother never saved much at all. Those kind of things are the ones that are hard to part with. Hope your Wednesday is a wonderful one!
ReplyDeleteThat is so precious. Truly treasures! :)
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! I especially love the prints.
ReplyDeleteMy mom's getting rid of my baby stuff that she saved too...my christening outfit. Those old cards are cool aren't they? I think she is getting rid of those too but I snagged one that was really unique esp. for 1964.
ReplyDeleteWhen Nanny passed, the one thing I wanted was the ceramic baby bootie that had flowers in it given to my Mom when I was born. Such cute memories!!
ReplyDeleteI like looking at baby treasures. Besides things like booties and first shoes, I saved a couple of outfits that my son received from relatives that were brought back from different countries. There is a onsie that a great grandma brought back from Russia. There is also a pair of overalls, long sleeved t-shirt and dress shoes from Korea.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet that your mom saved all those things.
ReplyDeleteOh you're so lucky that your mom is sentimental! My mom was not, so there's little like that for me!
ReplyDeleteSweet!
ReplyDeleteHave fun, come back when you can!
ReplyDeleteHow precious! I love the sweet cards and think I have a few of these, too. I have my old baby book and my sons, too. There's are vintage, too now! lol
ReplyDeleteMy mother not only kept baby shoes but had some bronzed.
ReplyDeleteHi everyone! Thanks for all your comments. I've been so busy that I haven't even had time to respond to you comments here - I thought that was a quick way to keep up when I didn't have time to visit you too, but even that isn't working out lately. Hopefully once I get back on my regular working hours things will even out a bit! Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I especially love that she kept the shoes and cards. My mom did, too :)
ReplyDeleteWhat Adorable Family Heirlooms! It's fantastic that your Mom kept so much... alas, my Family moved so frequently that so many things had to be left behind or got lost in transit and only a fraction remained once they finally put down roots and quit roaming Gypsy Style. *LOL*
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by out of your busy schedule for a visit. Be sure to take some time for yourself and restore your Soul... The Land Of Blog is a great place to do that isn't it?
