My son is having what he calls a pre-prom man party this weekend. That translates to having a bunch of man-boys here roughhousing in the pool, watching violent movies, playing video games, being loud, and eating food faster than I can get it made and put out - fun :)
Have I mentioned that I have some great kids? I am so proud of every single one of them! I'm more than happy to host this pre-prom man party weekend. The guys all met up and took their dates to dinner and a movie last night. They are headed to the beach for the afternoon, and then back here for the "man party."
I'm scrambling around this morning to get the house clean, laundry done, mail and bills taken care of. Grocery shopping will be next on the agenda, and then start preparing food for the party. I'm going to make hot dogs on the grill complete with poolside topping bar - chopped onions, sweet relish, jalapeno relish, shredded cheese, a big pot of chili, chips and sodas.
I'm making an Italian sub platter for later in the evening and picking up all the goodies for a late night ice cream sundae bar. Hopefully *fingers crossed* that will hold them until breakfast. Sound good for a bunch of teen boys?

Speaking of parties, today is Armed Forces Day, a day to pay tribute to men and women who serve the United States armed forces. Memorial Day is coming up next. I thought today would be a good day to feature my Patriotic Pinboard at Pinterest for some Patriotic ideas, and also to link up for SuzieQTpies Scraps of Life Saturday Pinterest Party.
Head over to see all of my Patriotic Pins and feel free to link up below if you have a patriotic post to share. The blog hop will be open until July 14 to give you plenty of time to post your Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, and 4th of July favorites.
SuzieQTpies is giving away a $25 Amazon gift card to the top clicked link on the blog hop. Join in the fun below for your chance to win. You can also grab the code at the bottom if you'd like to post this blog hop linky on your blog too.
Have a great weekend - cheers!

At that age, you could put cheese and sauce on cardboard and they'd eat it! But sounds like you'll provide your son and his friends with some great food. Don't let them overwhelm you tonight.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely won't be overwhelmed Alex. It's always a pleasure when my boys have their friends over :)
DeleteHave a fun evening! It only happens once for each kid :) My twins graduate next year from High School. I'm already thinking ahead on what we can do haha. THANK YOU so much for linking up to my Red White and Blue Patriotic Blog linky! Good luck and thanks for adding the party to your blog. I'm going to add your blog name to my post as a cohost.
ReplyDeleteHave a super weekend! Susie
Thanks Suzie. Hope you come up with some great ideas for the twins next year. Thanks for posting the code to share the blog hop :)
DeleteYou're the perfect party house mom. I know the boys will have a fun filled weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo far so good! :)
DeleteFor a bunch of teen boys you could probably just throw out clumps of raw hamburger & thick-cut slices of bacon. Wait. That would work if you were hosting an event for grown men too....hmmm.
ReplyDeleteMary!! How have you been? I hope all is ok. I liked it better when you were blogging!
DeleteThey probably won't care if the house is clean, they will care about the food though. You're such a good Mom Martha.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Paula! Believe me, I didn't do much cleaning knowing I'll have to clean again after the party anyway. Just straightened up, made sure the bathrooms were presentable, wiped down counters and did a quick vacuum.
DeleteYour such a good mom Martha. I can here my Mom saying....you know that voice in your head stays with you forever!!! She used to say to me..."What are you cleaning the house for you know your just gonna have to clean it again tomorrow after everyone leaves!!"
ReplyDeleteBut us Mom's we love our boys and we'll do everything for them especially when they're such good kids.
Hope they have a blast. The menu sounds yummy, what's that address...lol!
Thanks Jen! Like I mentioned in a previous comment to Paula, my cleaning was light, just enough so things are presentable :) I wish you really could come over for the party! We could have a mom party while the boys have their man party. That would be fun!
DeleteI'm confused here; when is the actual prom? I love the pre=prom party though! And what delicious food!! You are the best Martha!!!!
ReplyDeleteCute patriotic boards too!
betty
Awww, thanks Betty. Prom isn't until next weekend, guess they couldn't wait to start their celebrations :)
DeleteYou are a brave woman! I hope you get some sleep tonight :)
ReplyDeleteNot really Heather, if they were good kids that minded their manner I wouldn't allow them to have these parties. As soon as I say I'm going to bed they quiet down and watch movies. They had a huge New Years Eve party here and not only quieted down shortly after midnight but even cleaned up so well that I wondered for a moment when I got up in the morning if I'd only dreamed they had a party! Told you they are really good kids!! :)
DeleteTrevor gets out of school Wednesday. Fortunately one of his classmates is hosting the "end of school" party the following day. It's going to be a rough housing, burping/farting, video game playing day too.
ReplyDeleteOf course that's the way it will be! Our "man" party was the whole weekend long. I cooked enough to last my family a month but it was gone in two days flat! Next weekend I get to host the after prom party and then the graduation party the following weekend - I'm going to be worn out and broke!
