I've been a bad, bad blogger again lately. I still haven't even visited all your link ups in the previous post for the Italian Fest. Thanks to all who participated by the way! I promise I will be around to visit each and every one soon. I have a mailbox full of comments and emails just patiently waiting too. Tomorrow is my last day of work and then I'm off for a whole week for spring break, whoo-hoo! Why we are off for spring break when spring doesn't actually arrive until after we go back to work is beyond me, but that's a whole 'nother story.
In anticipation of my break I thought I'd throw a party (of course) and there is another reason too - next Wednesday is the beginning of Lent. I'm not Catholic but I do participate. For the 46 days of Lent I give up alcohol, commit to good clean eating, and a serious workout schedule. That leaves me the next 5 days to eat, drink and be merry before getting down to business!
I know we don't hear this kind of theme often in the land of blogs, but what I'd like to see this weekend and up until Tuesday at midnight is your most fattening calorie ridden favorites, deliciously decadent desserts, deep fried delights, and let's not forget the cocktail recipes too. Bring on your old recipes and new ones, no rules here. Go ahead and make a cake with a plastic baby inside too if you'd like. Party on people!
LOL, you go, girl! I hope your five days of debauchery are full of fun, food and drink. :)
ReplyDeleteTake a good rest and enjoy the party next week. Have a nice weekend :)
ReplyDeleteYou better be good and enjoy your time the fullest. Have lots of fun & food.

ReplyDeleteWow, you are brave. I'm not very good at giving things up for that long. Hope you enjoy the celebrations before Lent starts! Thanks for hosting the party!

ReplyDeleteI will submit my mom's birthday cake that I will be making.
Have an awesome weekend!

Hey Martha! Yes, one of these days I will make it to Mardi Gras! I don't have any specific Fat Tuesday recipes but since roast chicken is my favorite, I thought I would link an upside down version! All the best on your clean eating and lenten meditation. big hugs! Alex
ReplyDeleteOh what a great idea! Thank you for your sweet comments over on my blog. I'm so happy you did :)
ReplyDeleteI'm your newest follower!
What fun this is. I see, I am really eating a lot healthier. Can't find anything decadent.
ReplyDeleteI will work on it for another time.
