Easy Cheesy Beer Bread

A couple days ago I was in a baking mood - I know, weird! It is for me anyway, I love to cook but baking usually isn't my thing. I made some goodies for the kids and while I was at it I decided to have a go at some cheesy beer bread. It was really yummy although I only had about 1/2 cup of cheddar, it definitely would have been better with the full cup added.

Ingredients:

3 cups all purpose flour
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp sea salt
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar (optional)
12 oz. bottle of beer
2 tbsp butter, melted

Combine all ingredients except beer and butter, mix well. Slowly add beer, mix until combined, place into greased loaf pan (or two mini loaf pans like I did), pour melted butter over top and bake at 350 for about 50-55 minutes.

This is a very hearty bread that I thought would be perfect to serve in the winter with stews or chili. I think it would also be great with some herbs added. I'll definitely make this again!

  6. This sounds wonderful; especially slathered in butter.

I just had one of those crazy aha moments when I realized how stupid I can be. I looked at your profile picture, like I have hundreds of times and I finally saw that it's feet at the beach. All of this time, I thought you were standing on tile and the flash had reflected off the carpet strip. I am so sorry I am so dense.
